Lip cream merupakan salah satu jenis pewarna bibir berbentuk cair yang dapat melembabkan bibir dalam waktu yang lama dibandingkan dalam bentuk padat, serta menghasilkan warna yang lebih merata pada bibir. Rhodamin B adalah salah satu bahan pewarna yang tidak diizinkan penggunaannya pada kosmetika karena dapat menyebabkan kanker dan gangguan fungsi hati. Meskipun telah dilarang penggunaannya namun penggunaan pewarna ini masih sering dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kandungan zat pewarna Rhodamin B pada lip cream yang beredar di Pasar Wage Kota Blitar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasi deskriptif. Sampel lip cream dipilih dengan kriteria berwarna merah dan berharga murah dibawah Rp 35.000. Diekstraksi sampel menggunakan n-heksan dan pelarut campur N.N dimetilformamida : asam ortofosfat (95:5) kemudian disaring. Analisis Rhodamin B dilakukan dengan metode Kromatografi Lapis Tipis menggunakan fasa gerak etil asetat : methanol : ammonia 25% (20 : 55 : 25). Bercak noda sampel dan baku pembanding Rhodamin B pada plat silica diamati secara visual dan dibawah sinar UV 366 nm lalu dihitung nilai Rf dari masing-masing noda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 4 sampel yang telah diuji, terdapat 1 sampel yang dinyatakan positif mengandung rhodamin B yaitu sampel C, sedangkan 3 sampel lainnya yaitu sampel A, B, dan D dinyatakan negatif atau tidak mengandung Rhodamin B.

Lip cream is a type of liquid lip color that can moisturize the lips for a longer time than in solid form, and produces a more even color on the lips. Rhodamine B is one of the dyes that is not allowed to be used in cosmetics because it can cause cancer and impaired liver function. Although its use has been banned, the use of this dye is still often done. This study aims to identify the content of Rhodamine B dye in lip cream circulating in the Wage Market, Blitar City. This type of research is descriptive observation. Lip cream samples were selected with the criteria of being red and having a low price of under Rp. 35,000. Samples were extracted using n-hexane and mixed solvent N.N dimethylformamide: orthophosphoric acid (95:5) then filtered. Rhodamine B analysis was carried out using the Thin Layer Chromatography method using ethyl acetate: methanol: ammonia 25% (20 : 55 : 25) as the mobile phase. The stains on the sample and the comparison standard of Rhodamine B on the silica plate were observed visually and under UV light at 366 nm and the Rf value of each stain was calculated. The results showed that of the 4 samples that had been tested, there was 1 sample that was declared positive for containing rhodamine B, namely sample C, while the other 3 samples, namely samples A, B, and D, were declared negative or did not contain Rhodamine B.
