Secara biologis, air bersih dapat dikatakan layak digunakan apabila udara tersebut tidak mengandung mikroorganisme pathogen yang berbahaya bagi kesehatan manusia. Namun, air bersih yang digunakan masyarakat di Desa Gempolan Kabupaten Tulungagung belum diketahui kelayakannya bagi kesehatan tubuh manusia. Air yang layak dikonsumsi adalah air yang jernih serta tidak mengandung bau dan rasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana kualitas diparameter biologi, dan parameter fisika di Desa Gempolan Kabupaten Tulungagung yang berdasarkan PERMENKES RI No.492 / MENKES / PER / IV / 2010 tentang "Persyaratan Kualitas Air Minum". Pengujian dilakukan secara organoleptik sampel berupa warna, bau, dan rasa. Dan dilakukan pengukuran berupa nilai TDS, suhu dan nilai MPN. Hasil pengamatan diindentifikasi tidak berbau, tidak warna, dan tidar berasa. Sedangkan hasil dari uji TDS didapatkan sebesar 316 mg/L, 315 mg/L,dan 312 mg/L. Untuk hasil pengukuran nilai suhu didapatkan sebesar 26,3oC ; 24,3oC dan 25oC. Dan pada hasil nilai MPN didapatkan sebesar ≥ 2400 MPN/100 ml, 1600 MPN/100ml dan ≥ 2400 MPN/100 ml untuk bakteri Escherichia coli dan untuk bakteri Total Coliform sebesar ≥ 2400 MPN/100 ml.

Biologically, clean water can be said to be suitable for use if the air does not contain pathogenic microorganisms that are harmful to human health. However, the clean water used by the community in Gempolan Village, Tulungagung Regency, is not yet known for its suitability for the health of the human body. Water that is fit for consumption its clear and does not contain odors and tastes. This study aims to see how the quality of biological parameters and physical parameters in Gempolan Village, Tulungagung Regency, is based on PERMENKES RI No.492 / MENKES / PER / IV / 2010 about "Persyaratan Kualitas Air Minum". The test was carried out by organoleptic samples in the form of color, smell, and taste. And measurements were made in the form of the TDS value, temperature and MPN value. The results of the observations were identified as odorless, colorless, and tasteless. Meanwhile, the results of the TDS test were 316 mg / L, 315 mg / L, and 312 mg / L. For the measurement results the temperature value is 26.3oC; 24.3oC and 25oC. And the MPN value results were obtained for ≥ 2400 MPN / 100 ml, 1600 MPN / 100ml and ≥ 2400 MPN / 100 ml for Escherichia coli bacteria and for Total Coliform bacteria of ≥ 2400 MPN / 100 ml.
