Abstraksi
Abstract (English)
Total Plate Number (ALT) Test and Identification of Escherichia Coli Bacteria on Tumeric Acid Powder Circulating in Klojen District, Malang City
This research was conducted to determine the number of Escherichia Coli microbes in the turmeric and tamarind herbal powder circulating in Klojen District Malang City. This sour turmeric herbal medicine powder is a herbal medicine made from turmeric rhizome and tamarind fruit which is made in powder form. This test uses the ALT (Total Plate Number) and MPN methods. The ALT test is used to calculate the number of bacteria that grow and develop in the sample, as well as a reference that can determine the quality and safety of simplicial (Depkes RI, 1994). The MPN test was carried out as an estimator test, confirmatory test, complete test, NA test, gram staining test, and biochemical test which included indole test, MR test, VP test, and citrate test. In MPN test, the three samples that have been tested do not meet the requirements based on Ministerial Regulation No.661/Menkes/SK/VII/2008 concerning the requirements of traditional medicine which states that traditional medicine must be free from pathogenic microbes, one of which is Escherichia Coli. Meanwhile, for the ALT test, the results of Escherichia Coli bacteria were obtained with a Total Plate Number (ALT) of 3 x 104 (sample 1); 7,8 x 104 (sample 2); <3 x 104 (2,6 x 104) (sample 3). Of the three samples of herbal medicine, turmeric acid powder exceeded the requirements set out in SNI 01-4320-1996 concerning Traditional Beverage Powders.
