Penurunan peristaltik usus adalah salah satu masalah yang terjadi pasca operasi dengan general anastesi yang dapat menimbulkan komplikasi bila peristaltik usus tidak kembali normal dalam kurun waktu 24 jam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi mengunyah permen karet dan kompres hangat terhadap pemulihan peristaltik usus pada pasien post operasi dengan general anastesi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain quasy eksperimental berjumlah 36 responden menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini yaitu kombinasi mengunyah permen karet dan kompres hangat sedangkan variabel terikat yaitu peristaltik usus. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu, lembar observasi dan panduan penelitian. Uji bivariat mengunakan wilcoxon dan mann whitney. Kelompok perlakuan diberikan intervensi sebanyak 3 kali. Pada kelompok perlakuan menunjukkan uji wilcoxon menunjukkan p-value 0,000 sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol p-value 1,000. Pada hasil uji mann whitney menunjukkan p-value 0,000 yang artinya terdapat pengaruh kombinasi mengunyah permen karet dan kompres hangat terhadap pemulihan peristaltik usus. Kombinasi perlakuan dapat mempercepat pemulihan peristaltik usus dikarenakan mengunyah permen karet dapat memicu produksi saliva dan enzim amilase yang diproduksi pankreas dalam sistem pencernaan, selain itu kombinasi dengan efek terapeutik kompres hangat yang merangsang saraf parasimpatis yang mengakibatkan vasodilatasi pembuluh darah yang berada di area abdomen.

Decreased intestinal peristalsis is one of the problems that occurs after surgery with general anesthesia which can cause complications if intestinal peristalsis does not return to normal within 24 hours. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of chewing gum and warm compresses on the recovery of intestinal peristalsis in post-operative patients under general anesthesia. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design with 36 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable in this research is a combination of chewing gum and warm compresses, while the dependent variable is intestinal peristalsis. The instruments used were observation sheets and research guides. Bivariate test using Wilcoxon and Mann Whimay. The treatment group was given intervention 3 times. In the treatment group, the Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000, while in the control group the p-value was 1.000. The results of the Man Whitney test show a p-value of 0.000, which means that there is a combination of chewing gum and warm compresses on the restoration of intestinal peristalsis. The combination of treatment can speed up the recovery of intestinal peristalsis because chewing gum can trigger the production of saliva and the amylase enzyme produced by the pancreas in the digestive system, in addition to the combination with the therapeutic effect of warm compresses which stimulate the parasympathetic nerves which result in vasodilation: blood vessels in the abdominal area.
