Abstraksi

Abstract (English)

Differences in PRC Component Hematocrit Values with Long Shelf Life in UDD PMI, Kediri City

Packed Red Blood Cell (PRC) is a blood component obtained after most of the plasma is separated from whole blood (WB). Packed Red Blood Cells still contain leukocytes, platelets and a little plasma. One PRC unit with a volume of 150-300 mL has a blood cell mass of about 100-200 mL. Packed Red Cell can be stored from the time of donation until it is transfused into the recipient and stored at 2-6°C for 21-42 days depending on the anticoagulant-preservative solution used. The purpose of PRC storage is to maintain the viability and function of the erythrocytes by reducing the metabolic activity of the cells. In this study using observational case studies and using a sample of donor blood in the amount of 1 which will be examined on day 1 and day 14. The sampling technique used is probability sampling. The results of the study of the hematocrit level of the PRC component showed that the hematocrit level on the 1st day before storage was 80% and after the 14th day storage there was a decrease in the hematocrit level, namely 72%. The hematocrit level shows the 1st day or at any time after burning the PRC component has increased and after the 14th day of storage it has decreased relatively stable. The difference in Hematocrit levels which are relatively stable means that the blood can still be transfused to patients. Keyword : Hematocrit, Packed Red Cells (PRC), Storage Time
