Hand and body lotion (losion tangan dan badan) merupakan suatu sediaan dengan medium air yang digunakan pada kulit tanpa digosokkan. Hand and body lotion banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat khusunya wanita untuk memutihkan kulit tubuh secara cepat. Namun, tidak sedikit produsen yang menambahkan hidrokuinon ebagai pemutih ke dalam hand and body lotion. Penggunaan hidrokuinon pada hand and body lotion tidak diperbolehkan karena terdapat peraturan yang melarang penggunaan hidrokuinon pada kosmetik yaitu Peraturan Kepala BPOM RI Nomor 23 tahun 2019 tentang Persyaratan Teknis Bahan Kosmetika. Dalam peraturan tersebut penggunaan hidrokuinon hanya diperbolehkan untuk sediaan kuku aktifisial dengan kadar sebesar 0,02%. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan penelitian terhadap kandungan hidrokuinon pada hand and body lotion. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis ada tidaknya kandungan hidrokuinon pada hand and body lotion yang dijual secara online di e commerce. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 4 sampel dan dilakukan pengujian dengan metode reaksi warna FeCl3 dan KLT (Kromatografi Lapis Tipis). Hasil pengujian dengan pereaksi warna FeCl3 menunjukkan bahwa sampel D positif mengandung hidrokuinon yang ditandai dengan perubahan warna sampel menjadi kehitaman. Hasil pengujian dengan KLT menunjukkan bahwa sampel D positif mengandung hidrokuinon yang ditandai dengan bercak sampel sejajar dengan baku hidrokuinon dan nilai Rf sebesar 0,2. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan terdapat satu sampel yang tidak memenuhi persyaratan.

Hand and body lotion is widely used by people, especially women, to whiten the body's skin quickly. However, not a few manufacturers add hydroquinone as a bleach to hand and body lotion. The use of hydroquinone in hand and body lotion is not allowed because there are regulations that prohibit the use of hydroquinone in cosmetics, namely the Regulation of the Head of BPOM RI Number 23 of 2019 concerning Technical Requirements for Cosmetic Ingredients. In this regulation, the use of hydroquinone is only allowed for active nail preparations with a concentration of 0.02%. Therefore, it is necessary to do research on the hydroquinone content in hand and body lotion. The purpose of this study was to analyze the presence or absence of hydroquinone in hand and body lotion sold online in e-commerce. The samples used in this study were 4 samples and were tested using the FeCl3 color reaction method and TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography). The test results with FeCl3 color reagent showed that sample D was positive for hydroquinone which was indicated by a change in the color of the sample to blackish. The results of the TLC test showed that sample D was positive for hydroquinone which was indicated by the sample spots parallel to the hydroquinone standard and an Rf value of 0.2. Based on the results of research that has been done there is one sample that does not meet the requirements.
